Contrary-tale

I must confess, I never adamantly believed in once upon a time tales.
In my evasive thoughts, these fables were merely slumber stories.
Consequently I felt you were no more wondrous than any other.
You were on my door step in simply blue jeans, a sweater and a smile; not shiny, shimmering, splendid metallic.
You arrived not upon a magical rug or atop a reverent stallion but in an economy car.
In your hands you held not my missing shoe from the previous fortnight, but the day’s mail.
You possessed no antidote for this ardor I seem to have been poisoned with but offer the hope and will for it to remain everlasting.
You have not awakened me from this gratifying reverie with a passionate kiss but a slight brush against my arm as you proceed through the threshold to slip off your coat.
It is then I suddenly come to the rationalization that my true fairytale resides within you.
We are star crossed lovers in this realm of reality.
And I am wishing upon every glistening sparkle in the sky, that I shall discover my happily ever after within your eyes.
